Course Objective |
The purpose of this course is to enhance our understanding of historical development and political ideas shaping European integration and major political developments. The reading material covers major political ideas and processes after the end of Second World War such as federalism, functionalism and intergovernmentalism as well as a recent debate on crises of integration. The attention then shifts to major historical steps in constructing European integration process and particular integration policies such as Single Market, Economic and Monetary Union, social policy and Common Foreign and Security Policy. The course ends with a debate on double crises of integration in economics and politics. |
