Course Objective

The aim of the course is to develop an understanding of the main concepts of a project and to manage a detailed project in the semester.

1. Main textbook: Jeffrey K. Pinto (2010).Project Management: Achieving Competitive Advantage, Pearson Education, 2nd Edition.

2. Supplementary references: Jack R. Meredith & Samuel J. Mantel (2006). Project Management: A Managerial Approach, 6th Edition.
* Students will also read and analyse variour articles published in professional journals.

3. Software: The software listed below can be downloaded to personal computers and run over the campus network, taking into account the directions on the page of our university's computer department.
* MS Project 2016
* MS Excel 2016

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Lectures
Lectures will cover theoretical basis of project management and class discussions will be carried out over the case studies.
Discussions on case studies will be held in the course, but a report will be prepared in advance for each case study as a homework activity.

2. Readings
Each week reading texts / articles in the book or from different sources will introduce the basic concepts and techniques of project management. These readings will provide both the theoretical background and technical skills needed to manage any project.

3. Computer Applications
MS Project software will be introduced through various applications in order to manage all phases of the project more effectively.

4. Group assignment
Small groups will be formed according to the number of students and each group will manage a project to solve a problem or issue.

5. Presentations
Students will use presentation techniques and verbal communication skills in project presentations.

1. Assignments
There will be some particular cases and assignments, and they will be analyzed in each phase of project management.

2. Term Project and Presentation
There will be just one term project that is handled in a group. The group project will be evaluated through context, detail level, report context and format, and presentation effort. Details will be provided as project guidelines by the instructor.

Assessment Criteria

1. Assignments should be completed and submitted on time.
2. Members of the groups should demonstrate their individual knowledge and ability during presentations and discussions.
3. Reports and homework papers should be prepared according to specific academic format, i.e., APA..

1. Plagiarism of any type will result in disciplinary action.
2. Participation in class discussions is required. The subject matter is mastered through student's active participation and practice.
3 Students should submit the assignments on time. Otherwise will not be accepted.
