Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to encourage students for recognizing and using computers, and to give information about the hardware and software of computers, operating systems, word processing programs, presentation programs, and other programs that can be use in this area and encourage them to promote and actively use of these programs.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will have a general knowledge about computers, hardware and software
2   They will obtain information about operating systems and installation forms
3   They know word processing and presentation programs such as Word, PowerPoint and use them effectively
4   They will have information about the programs related to the field and use them
5   Students know the internet and use it effectively in communication

4 Computer and security (viruses, worms, Trojan horses, key loggers, spyware, etc.).
5 Security Software (antivirus programs)
6 Computer networks and the internet (wired and wireless networks, web browsers)
7 Internet and usage (search engines)
8 Midterm Exam
9 Chat programs (MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, ICQ instant messaging program)
10 Printers and scanners
