Course Objective

Gaining the habit of visiting and protecting museums to the students from different cultures, applying art history knowledge and developing knowledge of future artist-teacher candidates. Inter-cultural communication, knowing and searching turkish culture by other cultures. To get students to comprehend the imporance of museum education and the importance of following artistic activities in human s accultration.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowing the definitions of culture, art, civilization, anthropology, art history, museum, society, ethnology, ethnography and archeology.
2   Knowing the definitions of museum, museology and types of museum. Knowing the functions, collecting, documenting, protecting, exhibiting and educating of museums.
3   Knowing museology in Turkey and all over the world and evolution of museum education. Knowing art museums and their objectives.
4   Knowing what a museum researcher and educator is and where museum education take place. Knowing museology and the museum s collection and what a museum expert is.
5   Knowing visual arts, museums, galleries, visual art education. Knowing visual art education in museums and the school-museum corporation program.
