Course Objective

According to important masters of art history, searching elements of composition and be capable of applying as interpretation-copy, drawing, black & white, light & dark on different surfaces by different equipments and techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowing design elements and principles.
2   Analyzing a piece of art.
3   Analyzing a piece of art by using pencil, gouache and ink.
4   Creating black and white compositions on different size of different surfaces with different materials.
5   Working achromatic works on different size of different surfaces with ink, pastel and gouache considering light, figure and ground from real life objects.
6   Working monochromatic works on canvas with acrylic from real life objects.
7   Knowing how to find tones.
8   creating an original and competent language of expression.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Introduction with basic explanations. Analyzing piece of art about organizing lightness and darkness considering design elements and principles.
2 Analyzing related pieces of art with the help of masters and research subjects. Analyzing master pieces on A4 paper by using pencil, gouache and ink one to one.
3 Black and white compositions: Working min.5 on 35x50 from real life objects with interested materials and surfaces.
4 Black and white compositions: Working on paper with short sides more than 50cm.
5 Working on 35x50cm paper from real life objects based on tones with gouache.
6 Working a 35x50 achromatic from real life objects based on tones with ink, pastel and gouache.
7 Working a 35x50 achromatic from real life objects based on tones with ink, pastel and gouache.
8 General Review, Course Assessment, Midterm Exam
9 Working a 50x70 rough sketch paper achromatic considering figure ground based on tones with ink, pastel and gouache.
10 Working a 50x70 rough sketch paper achromatic considering figure ground based on tones with ink, pastel and gouache.
11 Working monochromatic works on canvas from real life objects. Finding the determined color tones by adding the contrasts, black and white. Working on canvas with short sides more than 50cm. with acrylic.
12 Determining the dominant color of the monochromatic composition. Working on canvas with short sides more than 50cm. with acrylic.
13 Creating an original and competent language of expression with the monochromatic from real life objects on canvas. Working on canvas with short sides more than 50cm. with acrylic.
14 Working from real life objects with ink. Making many compositions with object, space, light-middle-dark and line. Ink works from nature. Interpreting nature with many works in short time with depth, light-middle-dark and line originally.
