Course Objective

To teach main piano techniques and practice methods; to performance works from piano repertoire.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns main piano techniques in appropriate to the level of third grade
2   Transfers techniques which are gained from works practiced appropriate to the level of third grade to other works
3   Knows characteristics of composer s periods in works appropriate to the level of third grade
4   Compares with contemporary music to their period of music history in appropriate to the level of third grade
5   Analysis works according to harmony and form in appropriate to the level of third grade
6   Forms musical expression in works performed appropriate to the level of third grade
7   Determines the effectiveness of the performance to detect mistakes in the playing works in appropriate to the level of third grade
8   Evaluates about own performance in appropriate to the level of third grade

Course Contents

1 Practicing an Etude chosen suitable to the third grade level
2 Sight reading of a Sonatine or a Sonata and working on using pedal
3 E Flat Major scale and arpeggio
4 Practicing piece from Baroque period
5 Practicing piece from Contemporary or Romantic period
6 Working on Etude in details
7 General rehearsal + Midterm Exam
8 General rehearsal + Midterm Exam
9 Working piece from Baroque period in details
10 E Flat Major scale and arpeggio, C Minor scale and arpeggio
11 Solving techniqual problems related playing of Etude, Sonat/Sonatin or Polyphonic piece
12 Whole of the scales and arpeggios
13 Controlling of pieces as regard as tempo, nuance and expression
14 Necessary exercises for removing disabilities in playing as regard as technique or musical expression
15 Final exam

C.Czerny op.599, op.849, op. 299, H.Bertini op.32, S.Heller Etudes op.45,46,47,Berens Etudes, Cramer Etudes, Hanon, Chopin Etudes, 3 movement of Diabelli, Clementi , Beethoven, Haydn, Kuhlau, Mozart, Scarlatti Sonatines and Sonatas, Polyphonic Works: J.S.Bach 2 or 3 part inventions, J.S.Bach 48 prelude and fuges, and French suit Book (one or two movement), Tchaikowsky, Schumann, Debussy, Granados, Chopin, Shubert, Mendelson,etc..
