Course Objective

Course Objective: Historical improvment of Turkish Folk Music. Folk music repertoire, institutionalisation of folk music in Republic Period, the importance of folk music in music education, general folklore information, the reationship of folk music with other areas of folklore, the instruments are being used in the folk music, melodical form of the folk music, styles in folk music, Hoyrat, Maya, Divan, Bozlak, Gurbet, Yol , Barak, Zeybek, Halay, karsılama, etc.. Listening the samples in characteristic specialities.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows what sources of folk music has been fed.
2   Knows the measures of folk melodies he listened.
3   Knows the type and kind of folk music he studies.
4   Analyses the scale of folk melodies he studies.
5   Explains the form of a folk melodie he studies.
6   Knows the instruments used in folk music he listened.
