Course Objective

To teach in detail the stages of enrichment and application of complex and low grade metallic ores by chemical methods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Know the place of chemical enrichment in mineral industry and ore preparation
2   Know the chemical enrichment (Leaching) technique and application stages
3   Know leaching applications in gold-silver ores
4   Know leaching practices in other metallic ores (Copper, Nickel, Lead-Zinc etc.)
5   Know flow sheets of leaching plants

2 Enrichment (leaching) by chemical solubility difference, Solution taking and equilibrium in solutions
3 Pre-leaching preparations: comminution, classification, enrichment and heat treatment
4 Leaching methods of precious metals in ores, factors affecting the taking of the solution (Pressure, Leaching time) Temperature, Solvent concentration, Solid ratio
5 Leaching methods
6 Solution purification / concentration and recovery
7 Solution purification / concentration and recovery
8 Midterm exam
9 Chemical enrichment in gold-silver ore and Uşak- Kışladağ Tuprag Gold Mine
10 Chemical enrichment in copper, nickel ores
