Course Objective

This course, aims to teach getting engaged with the other characters of
the play, identifying the purposes according to the scene's objectives; to
the students who completed the process of creating a character. As a
result, the scenes from Shakespeare and the contemporary playwrights plays
with 2 or 3 person, are used.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understanding the intentions of the character formed and its existence through the relations with the other persona both theoricly and practically.
2   Learning using the stage reality, on the level of emotion voice action practice needed for the role according to Stanislavski's acting method.
3   Doing research on the era, writer, approach of the play to work and get them together with the theoric knowedge.
4   Matching on the stage actions with the play and the character analyse that she/he is capable of
5   Active participation to the progresses of the criticism and evaluation in the lecture are expected form the student as a result of the lectures in the course.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1-Lectures

The lecturer provides a meeting to the student, with the basic structure
that will be helpful during all the time with the profession. Creating a
physical and spiritual world of a character from / using a text of a play
is something significant. Accordingly usage of the text signals is he basis.

2-Applications

The topics with examples in the aapplication studies and lectures, will be
used for the paper of the students in order to be equal to the
presentations. Those form into soliloquy kind of work. And explanations for
the music, lighting, decor and costume needed eventually must be clear.

3-Classroom debates

Papers prepared by the student is opened to critical rewiev and discussion.
It is a criteria that study was 'right' and it creates an 'effect'.
Students will examine the power of their study on the audience. That helps
raising quality and creativity in the later productions.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

On the point of course assesment, success of the student with the work of applied and theoric preparation of the soliloquy, holding the concentration during the practices done in the class, active participation while criticising the papers, trying hard to be creative and unique for the studies and a concrete discipline are all minded.
The point from the participation of the student is connected to those as well, (1) course paticipation status, (2) students attendance (3) success of the works done, (4) the student s contribution to create a positive learning environment.

Course Policies and Rules

1-%80 class attendance is required.
2-Students may not enter the classroom after the lectre has started.
3-It is obliged to read the play to be studied in the class in advance, for participation.
4-The behaviours messing the concentration of the class, are reason to be dropped out of the class.
5- Being absent in the days of delivering the papers equals to not having prepared a paper at all.
