Course Objective

To teach the etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, correct diagnosis and treatment planning of Orofacial Pain, Temporomandibular Disorders, Dentofacial Deformities, Cleft Lip-Palate and Obstructive Sleep Apnea, which involves the maxillofacial region and requires special knowledge and skills, simple methods of patient examination, and advanced treatment methods, and to raise awareness of students about patient groups and cases that will be referred to maxillofacial surgery.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define health problems and traumas of mouth, teeth, jaw and surrounding tissues, analyze and interpret findings.
2   Makes a clinical diagnosis by evaluating anamnesis, clinical examination and tests.
3   Creates a treatment plan with the participation of the patient and/or patient's relatives, and refers him/her to a specialist in cases requiring further surgery.
4   Define dental and alveolar injuries.
5   Obtains informed consent to guide the treatment, applies basic diagnostic tests and interventions, and consults with other branches when necessary.

Assessment Criteria
