Course Objective

It is aim to train veterinerian who is able to do any interventions about obstetrics, gynecology, reproduction.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to diagnose and treat infectious and non-infectious diseases that cause abortion in domestic animals.
2   To be able to perform the intervention of genital tract pathologies and diagnosis and treatment of uterine infections in the postpartum period
3   To recognizes and treats metabolic diseases that may occur in the puerperal period
4   To has knowledge about management of ruminants, mares, cats and dogs caused by genital organ anomalies, infertility, and infectious or non-infectious diseases

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Spesific infections may be resulted in abortion in farm animals.
2 Spesific infections may be resulted in abortion in horse, dog and cat .
3 Problems of puerperal period.
4 Uterine prolapsus. Postpartum uterine infections: acute metritis, subacute metritis.
5 Metabolic diseases: hypocalcemia in cows, pregnancy toxemia in sheeps, lactation tetany in mares and eclampsia in dogs.
6 Infertility in cows.
7 Infertility due to malnutrition in cows.
8 Retentio secundinarum
9 Infertility in cat and dogs.
10 Infertility in mares.
11 Ovariohysterectomy in carnivores.
12 Gynecologic operations: vaginal hyperplasia and vaginal prolapsus in cat and dogs. Perineal and recto-vaginal anomalies. Fissure and fistule treatments.
13 Female genital tract tumors.
