General Description

History

Our department has continued its activities during the process of change from the "High School of Economics and Trade" and "Izmir Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy" as the " Public Finance Chair"; related to the Ege University, " Faculty of Economics and Commercial Sciences" and "Faculty of Economics "and Dokuz Eylul University", Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Public Finance". Our department continues Fiscal, Fiscal Law Master Programs (with thesis) and Fiscal Applications (without thesis) affiliated to Dokuz Eylül University Institute of Social Science.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

1,5 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 90 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Department of Finance graduate programs aims to educate scientific masters of Public Finance who are capable of independent thinking, can put forth original ideas, make scientific research, have the ability to do original thinking and studying, and interpret economic and financial developments, have a critical perspective, innovative, can propose solutions to the financial problems that have scientific ethic.

1   Learning concepts related to financial events and interpretation of financial events to give the inference skills
2   Economic and financial events and developments in the dynamics of the historical process, the historical and theoretical point of view to provide skills assessment
3   Having knowledge in financial matters, especially in the public sector and private sector
4   To understand financial problems and to gain the ability to use modern methods of resolving these problems
5   Located in fiscal discipline tools to analyze the effectiveness of financial applications to provide the ability to use effectively
6   Problems with tax law and associated branches of law review and evaluation to gain skills

8   In judicial practice in the area to follow national and international publications and to gain the ability to produce knowledge in this field
9   To increase interoperability with quantitative and economic data, to gain the ability to use tools for statistical data analysis

Programme are obligated to take 12 obligatory courses. All elective courses are provided by the Department. There is no prerequisite courses. All courses are based on semester credit system. The courses in the field of financial law students with the knowledge, skills and competence aims to gain.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation and assessment methods for each course is defined in the the Course Description Form which is prepared by related faculty member / s and included in the information package. Exams and course success notes is subject to the relevant articles of the DEU Regulation on Graduate Education.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Non-Thesis Program is comprised of courses (at least 84 ECTS), Term Project (6 ECTS), in total 90 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
