General Description

History

Dokuz Eylül University Graduate School of Social Sciences Department of Econometrics Second Cycle Programme was founded in 1986. Department of Econometrics Second Cycle Programme is conducted by Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Department of Econometrics do research and give education on issues related to proper analysis and decision-making on economic and business problems with the help of mathematics, statistics and operations research.Language of instruction is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) diploma; a minimum score of 55 from the Academic Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related field or GRE/GMAT equivalent; a minimum score of 50 from the Foreign Language Exams (UDS/KPDS/YDS/e-YDS/YOKDIL) or from equivalent foreign language proficiency exam approved by OSYM or a minimum score of 55 from DEU School of Foreign Languages English Proficiency Test. Transcript; a minimum score of 65 from the graduate school academic proficiency exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Department of Econometrics is continuing its education and training activities with 4 professors, 4 associate professors, 5 assistant professors and 14 research assistants. The number of PC under use of student and course is 2 and they are open to use for workday at 8:30-19:00 hours. At Department of Econometrics, there are 2 seminar rooms and Wireless Internet connection on those rooms. Language of instruction is Turkish.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   To increase knowledge in level of specialist having theoretic informations in field of Econometrics, Statistics and Operation Research.
2   To use Theoretic and Practical informations which are obtained in level of specialist to improve solution of problems by proposals in field of Econometrics, Statistics and Operation Research .
3   To improve ability of working as a member of academic group.
4   To research subjects in Econometrics, Statistics and Operation Research, to use maximum his knowledge in this research and to prepare seminars and make presentation after properly reporting this study which follows academic standarts.
5   To write paper, thesis and such which is based on academic ethics and follows academic standarts and is publishable.
6   To study theoretic and practical knowledge in level of specialist which were obtained in field of Econometrics, Statistics and Operation Research.
7   To criticise Theoretic and Practical informations in field of Econometrics, Statistics and Operation Research.
8   To have ability of studying as independent individual in academics area and practical area.

Courses at Department of Econometrics are compulsory and selective and students achieving these courses in 2 terms have responsibility to write and achieve thesis in their last term. No conditions are required for both compulsory and selective courses. Programme courses provide students to have skill to use other disciplines which are basis for fields of Econometrics, Operations Research and Statistics and to get information on these disciplines at advance level.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 56 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS) and field study (2 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
