General Description

History

Our program has been founded in 1982.The number of the students in our program is about 600. By utilizing all the facilities of the modern education, we are working to provide our students with an education level that help them to compete with the other national and international universities. Our program graduates are being employed in the Public and Private Sector as vocational personnel.

Specific Admission Requirements

High school graduates can register for the program by getting enough points from the "Transition to Higher Education" examination administered by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management.

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK) .
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in Graduate Transfer Guide and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing . Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student must complete 2 years of study acquiring 120 (ECTS) credits. This degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, compulsory 40 days of internship and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 and no failing grades.

Profile of the Programme

Computer Programming offers a carefully designed curriculum covering internet technologies, database, programming languages, network, computer hardware and other computing topics. The curriculum is designed to help students begin to prepare for career opportunities in various fields involving computer technology, including such as software applications and programming, computer network systems, web development and database analyst. In this way, they will be able to play their part in business life with state-of-the-art knowledge of computers and software, which the industry needs.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   To be able to install and manage server operating systems and open source systems.
2   To be able to do simple network installments and can install networks.
3   To be able to do a research, write its report, and perform.
4   To be able to install visual programming editor, and develope basic visual programming applications; to be able to use visual programming language and database; to be able to do advanced visual programming applications by using visual programming editor, and develop multi-layered practices.
5   To be able to form individual and cooperative communication; has information and consciousness on quality control and process, environment and human health protection subjects.
6   To be able to form image and text.
7   To be able to prepare for internet programs, to be able to form web page and make it work.
8   To be able to do database functions, to be able to use various databases, and direct database servers.
9   To be able to setup and manage offices.
10   To be able to use numerals, series and functions in his profession and do application with matrices, linear equation systems, numeric analyses, geometry, and trigonometry.
11   Is conscious of scientific and professional ethical values.
12   To be able to express basic professional terms, concepts and definitions in foreign language
13   To be able to do object-oriented programming.
14   To be able to determine the equipment and can use the sensors.
15   To be able to do basic programming operations. To be able to use software development methods and can test and maintain software.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

This program consists of knowledge of electronic components and the relations between these components, computer-programming issues and the techniques used in analysis and design processes of the computer systems.
In this program, special importance is attached to computer programming issues including hardware, software and processes related to these. Students who successfully complete the program will have the practical and theoretical knowledge to create, develop and produce software design using the latest techniques.

Access to Further Studies

Students can continue their education in bachelor's degree programs in relation to Computer Engineering or Education when they pass External Transfer Exam (DGS). Program students, open education faculty some programs can pass without examination.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

The courses in the curriculum belong to their semester. There is no prerequisite course in the curriculum. Percentages of the compulsory and elective courses are 80 and 20, respectively. Percentages of the common compulsory and common elective courses in the vocational school are 20 and 14,2, respectively. Students should have 8 weeks (40 days) of practical training in the second class in one of the computer companies that prepare and develope software.
