Dokuz Eylül University Master of Science Program in Logistics Engineering launced as both formal and evening education on 13.06.2006.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students may be accepted for graduate transfer with the approval of the Department Directorate and decision of the Board of Directors of the Graduate School in case the student fulfills the graduate transfer regulations decided by the General Council of the Graduate School. Previously taken courses at another graduate programme with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes with the written request of the students including course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the Department Directorates and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students may have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective by the decision of the Board of Directors.

1,5 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 90 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

The language of the program is English-supported Turkish. Non Thesis education in the evening class is given to the participants. 20 students are predicted to register this program annually.
Facilities for master's programme include; Logistics Laboratory, Marport Port Operations Laboratory, Computer Laboratory and Library.
Due to its multidisciplinary character, the program consists of a total of twenty two academicians from such disciplines as Maritime Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Law, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Business, City and Regional Planning, Electrics and Electronics Engineering.

1   Adopts the competitive advantage dimension of logistics and supply chain in global economy
2   Embraces the role of logistics engineering in terms of decreasing costs and increasing customer service within the Turkish economy.
3   Leads the research methods in natural sciences with regard to logistics and supply chain
4   Designs and implements modeling, simulation, optimization and other experimental designs in logistics and supply chain
5   Creates differentiation by increasing the current working environment standards beyond the quality system standards
6   Sets strategies, and transforms them into reports when asked, for the industry, taking into account the overall situation, bottlenecks and environmental impacts concerning the logistics and supply chain.
7   Actively gets involved in the national and international projects conducted by both private and public sectors on logistics, supply chain and transportation.
8   Takes initiative in the multidisciplinary engineering team works on logistics and supply chain
9   Acts in compliance with the requirements related with the professional standards, ethical responsibilities and work safety.
10   Conducts intra and interdisciplinary team works in the fields of logistics and supply chain and expresses his/her views written and/or orally based on his/her independent decision making competence.
11   Develops original outlooks and methods and innovative solutions in designing system, part or process in logistics and supply chain
12   Develops skills in implementation - control - feedback and assessment cycle, creating new knowledge through information processing competencies in logistics and supply chain.
13   Develops his/her knowledge in the same or related fields into specialized level, based on his bachelor level competencies in logistics and supply chain.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

In addition to the compulsory courses of the programme, students register to elective courses appropriate for their thesis topic, on the consent of their supervisor. If necessary, on the consent of their supervisor, they can also register to courses from other programmes (from DEU or other universities). It is obligatory to register MAT5101 Applied Mathematics (3 0 0) or MAT5102 Numerical and Approximate Methods (3 0 0) or LOG 5019 Lojistikte Diferensiyal Denklem Uygulamaları (3 0 0) with the approval of the supervisor. The registration must be noticed to the Institute during course registration period by the supervisor.

The course evaluation criteria are defined for each course by the instructor(s) of the corresponding course and are given in the Course Description Form found in the information package.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Non-Thesis Program is comprised of courses (75 ECTS) and term project (15 ECTS), in total 90 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 / 4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.
