History |
Department of Genomics and Molecular Biotechnology was established in 2016 with the approval of YOK. Our department has 18 professors competent in various fields of Molecular Biology and Genetics. The PhD program was accepted at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting on 13.09.2017. The duration of the program is 10 semesters and total 5 years. |

Specific Admission Requirements |
Second Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines. Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first or second cycle (with thesis) cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. However, ALES requirement is waived for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs as well as for the admissions to the graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee. In this context, minimum GPA 80/100 or 3/4 from Bachelor degree, minimum score of 60 from the National Central Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related fields, or 50 in graduate medical residency examination (TUS) minimum score of 55 from the Foreign Language Exams (YDS) or the equivalent exams scores obtained fromTOEFLetc, and being successful at the science examination of the Institute in the related fields (minimum score of 70). |

In order to graduate from the program, it is necessary to acquire 165 ECTS credits (including 3 ECTS seminars and 21 ECTS specialized field) from the courses and 135 ECTS credits from thesis. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Assessment of the students success is done with 1 midterm exam 1 final exam, 1 makeup exam (if needed), assignments and projects. |
Graduation Requirements |
Students must acquire 300 ECTS (165 ECTS of courses and 135 ECTS of dissertation) to graduate. The minimum GPA should be 2.50 / 4.00 for each course. |
