General Description
History |
The Department of International Relations, which was founded in 1992 within the Faculty of Business, was renamed Political Science and International Relations in 2024. The aim of the department is to educate students who can approach global political developments and the dynamics of international relations from an academic perspective and efficiently practice their ability of analytical and critical thinking. Students also learn such skills as gathering and analysing data, and expressing their ideas clearly and effectively. There are four subdepartments: Political History, EU Politics and International Relations, Law of Nations, and EU Law. The medium of instruction is English. |

Profile of the Programme |
In the first three years of the program, the students complete compulsory courses that are fundamental to political science and international relations. In their third and fourth years, students choose courses from such fields as comparative politics, European studies and other regional studies, international security, international law, political history and political economy. Furthermore, the program facilitates the development of communication and computer skills. As a result of its wide variety of courses, our students develop critical analytical skills that allow them to scientifically explain, compare, and generalize about political phenomena and the dynamics of international relations. Language of instruction is English (100%). |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
Graduates have various opportunities for employment in the public and private sector. In the private sector, our department has graduates who work in finance, sales and marketing, and human resources departments of banks, independent auditing firms and companies with foreign trade activities; as well as in telecommunications and media. We also have graduates in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pursuing their careers as diplomats. Our graduates also work in various state institutions and non-govenmental organizations as EU specialists or foreign trade specialists. Those who have preferred an academic career, are working on their masters or PhD degrees in universities at home and abroad. Some of them are working as research assistants and instructors particularly in the departments of International Relations, Political Science and Public Administration. |
