Course Objective

Historical processes such as global economic crisis, Euro-zone crisis and political crisis of democracy with the rise of far-right politics, Brexit and stagnation of Türkiye-EU relations all resulted in a declining demand for and popularity of European studies. European integration is facing a crisis period under the current conjuncture. However, a glance to history of European integration reveals that integration has always progressed in a gradual manner with times of stagnation followed with integration. The module studies future contours of European integration taking global challenges and solutions at its centre.

This module has three objectives. First, it aims to enhance knowledge of students about different aspects of crises and challenges as well as reforms and future coordinates of European integration. Second, it aspires to increase popularity and visibility of the EU studies through focusing on the current conjuncture of economic and political crises. Third, it equally aims to increase students awareness on global problems, probable solutions and future dynamics of European integration to stimulate students resilience about global challenges.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
