Course Objective

The aim of the course is to create awareness about sustainability, teach UN Sustainable Development Goals, provide an understanding of the global terms of social equality, circular economy,environment, climate and sustainable consumption.the course also aims to emphasize the significance of individual actions in promoting long-term transformation, examine regional, national and global instution's context-appropriate solutions for sustainability, and create an experiential learning environment where theoratical knowledge is translated into practical applications through in-class projects.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   It is expected that students will reach a level of awareness where they can apply sustainability principles in both their individual and professional lives by learning about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
2   In regard to social equality, students are expected to incorporate sustainability awareness into their personal and professional decision-making processes by understanding the impact of factors such as urban design, transportation and the environment.
3   Students are expected to anticipate to possess cognitive competence in understanding the concept and functioning of a circular economy and take necessary measures and steps for the continuity of the world.
4   Regarding the climate crisis, water consumption, conservation of water resources, renewable energy sources and waste management, it is expected that students will have a conscious and active undertanding of fundamental sustainability issues, allowing them to participate in action plans.
5   Through interactive meetings with local, regional,and global company managers engaged in sustainability-related problem-solving and solution offering, students are expected to grasp how change is achievable through role models leading sustainability efforts.
6   Students are required to work in groups to prepare and present a project demonstrating sustainability principles, encompassing at least one of the sustainability objectives.

Assessment Criteria

Students will understand what sustainability is, what the principles of sustainability are, and they will develop and present a project that offers a solution to a problem by practically applying the theoratical knowledge they have learned.The following rubric will be used for evaluating the project presentation.

Criteria 1.Content (20 points)

1.1 project overview (10p.)
Excellent (10p); clear and concise introduction providing a comprehensive overview of the sustainability project including its goals, objectives and relevance.
Good (7-9p.); adequate introduction with some information on the project goals and objectives.
Needs improvement (3-6p); introduction lacks clarity or is missing essential project details.

1.2.social and economic considerations
Excellent (10p.)insightful discussion of the social and economic aspects of the project considering community engagement, equity and economic feasibility.
Good (7-9p.) some considerations of social and economic factors but may lack depth or specificity.
Needs improvement (3-6) limited or unclear discussion of social and economic considerations.

Needs improvement ( 10-14p.) limited or unclear application of sustainability concepts.

Course Policies and Rules

A minimum attendance rate of 70% is required for all students.
Plagiarism and sharing of unauthorized use of information is a disciplinary offense.
The instructor is permitted to administer pop quizzes without prior notification and include their scores in the final assement.
In group activities, rules are collectively established with students within the classroom.Students who do not actively participate in group activities will not be eligible to take the final presentation and will be required to retake the course.
