General Description

History

The history of very first Paramedic vocational academic education of Türkiye starts at June, 09-16 1990, when DEU Rector of that period Prof. Dr. Namik Cevik had visited the Cambrian College at Canada (CCC) and signed a bilateral treaty on establishment of Ambulance and Emergency Care vocational program at DEU Vocational School Of Healthcare (VSH), in Türkiye. At July, 1991 DEU and CCC had finished their work on the Project and presented for approval to Higher Educational Council (YOK) in Türkiye. DEU and CCC gave a start the 3-year project at April of 1992, and at 22nd of December YOK had approved the Project. So that 22nd of December in each year has been celebrated as The Paramedic Day in Türkiye. Thanks to great efforts of the founding father and VSH chair of that period Prof. Dr. Necla Cevik, the very first 15-student group had started their education at 1993 fall term after the approval of the establishment by the Senate of University as the program named as Ambulance and Emergency Care Technician Program and was the first-ever in Türkiye. That very first inception at DEU, has reached now a mass of 64 High Schools, 91 VSH programs, 1689 quota (2010-11), 3260 students (2010-11) and more than 4800 graduates (1993-2011) and each year this army of healthcare is getting bigger. Although the name of the program has been changed to First and Emergency Aid since 2011, all graduates are still known as Paramedic.Pre-hospital emergency medical services, basic and advanced life support for injured patients and capable of all kinds of appropriate emergency management system can recognize the trauma of the first interventions were sick or injured people to hospitals by ambulance in a safe manner that would enable the technician to educate health care.Ambulance Paramedics systems present new perspectives and radical changes as a result of pre-hospital emergency system have become an important and necessary element. Program meets the needs of the industry in this direction in this important mission, knowledge, skills and equipment to undertake and maintain a leading role in the training of paramedics gained supremacy. In line with expectations and the need for life-long development of the health sector tends to make a difference and to train paramedics have sufficient knowledge and skills in the field of training, students as well as professional knowledge and skills to communicate effectively, work in teams, aims to acquire the ability to solve problems and be able to realize . Vocational high school diploma or high school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students take courses in the same program at another university credits, the program continued with the approval of the recommendation of the Directorate and the Health Services Vocational College are accepted as credits counted towards the program.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to graduate from the program are defined curriculum, professional for 90 ECTS compulsory courses and internships, for a total of 30 ECTS of elective courses must be taken and the ECTS must complete 120. Courses in grade 60 and above. Attendance is mandatory, 70% of theoretical courses, practical courses must attend 80%. Pre-requisite courses that are defined curriculum, which is a prerequisite for the course or courses must be achieved more.

Profile of the Programme

Our mission is to train and educate 5-level qualified First and Emergency Aid Technicians (Paramedics) who are necessary at prehospital emergency services in Türkiye, and besides, fast and safe transferring to health centers who are capable of performing current and scientific first aid and emergency care procedures to patients and victims of trauma at field.
In the program, physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, pharmacology, as well as courses in the basic medical sciences, general culture lessons. Vocational courses as Emergency Patient Care, Emergency Health Services, resuscitation, trauma, Advanced Life Support Applications, Physical Education and Body Building lessons. Elective courses in the curriculum of professional development, and social and cultural development is supported. 1. This degree enables the holder to exercise the profession in the public or private sector.The graduates of this program, public or private health care organizations or services provided from the Ministry of first aid and emergency ambulance services and private ambulance 112 enterprises, health technicians (paramedics) work as.

Access to Further Studies

ÖSYM our graduates can apply if they are successful in Vertical Jump Test Emergency Response and Disaster Management, Nursing, Nursing and Health Care sections can undergraduate education by making vertical transmission.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Courses, student assessment, course specified forms of promotion rates, course credit in accordance with the theory, application, or both in theory and practice two mid-term exams, homework and assessment course and the course is responsible for the choice. 1 final examination. Final exam for students who fail the supplementary examination. End of term exams and make-up course assignments specified forms of identification may be considered as well. In order to be successful in this course must have a grade of at least 60 is required.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate, students must successfully complete 120 ECTS credits for courses and internships. Course passing system is being implemented in each of the students to be successful in a course grade point average of at least 60 out of 100 is required to provide the final grade. One course exam grade is 50.
