Course Objective

Have knowledge about health professional ethics principles, public officials ethical behavior
principles and ethical principles concerned about other legislation. Find the required informations to make logical, objective and accurate decisions where they may face with ethical problems in their professional life. Recognizes the value judgment, good or bad, right or wrong, in human relations. Over time they understand the requirements of acting professionally while sick people meeting the care needs. They internalize the necessity of observing the patient's rights and the importance of communication ,according to the code of ethics, with patients and their legal representatives. They recognizes the importance of protecting the reputation of their profession and themselves in the community.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   It describes, philosophy, moral & ethic notions.
2   It may state notions such as; norm, value, culture, tradition.
3   It may question ethic and non-ethic behaviours and come up with a conclusion
4   It grasps the necessity and the importance of the vocational ethic principles
5   It comprehends the vocational ethic principles and may argue on ethical dilemmas
6   It describes the fundamental medical ethic principles.
7   It grasps patient rights subject.
8   It may count ethic codes about its vocation
9   It grasps that it should be giving importance to ethical notions while doing its duty.
10   It may discuss vocation related ethical problems with factual examples.
11   It grasps the experimental animal ethics.
12   The personal information and the information about private medical conditions that it came by during vocational applications, except the patience and others' health risk conditions and writing report according to regulations,it maintains not to reach to 3rd person.
13   It grasps the scientific publication ethics.
14   It may argue on ethical issues such as; euthanasia,abortion,abortus,organ transplant
15   They asess the subject by summarising all of the concepts of the vocational ethics, problems that they faced and how they should act.

Recomended or Required Reading

Print outs of the presentations, photocopies of the lecture notes will be given. Medical ethic books, sientific articles, thesis will be used as references.
