Course Objective

To provide students with knowledge and skills regarding the teaching of orientation and independent movement skills to individuals with visual impairment.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to learn orientation and orientation skills. 2   Be able to learn internal and external environmental concepts. 3   Develops and implements a teaching plan for problem solving in environments unfamiliar with orientation and independent movement skills.

Week Subject Description 1 What is Independent Movement and Orientation A brief introduction to its history. 2 Tools used for Orientation and Independent Movement. 3 Presentation of the walking stick for the visually impaired. 4 Guiding the visually impaired person. 5 Teaching of walking around outdoors and climbing stairs indoors while guiding visually impaired individuals. 6 Introducing O&M Materials and Selecting Project Assignments 7 Display of Sample Materials 8 midterm exam 9 Teaching simple cane use skills. 10 Teaching cane use skills. 11 Teaching cane use skills. 12 How do visually impaired individuals find falling objects 13 Demonstrating Orientation and Independent Movement Skills. 14 Demonstrating Orientation and Independent Movement Skills. 15 final exam
