Course Objective

Early literacy concepts, the scope and development of early literacy skills, the relationship with reading and academic achievement, the influencing factors, the role of the home environment, the assessment of early literacy skills and supportive strategies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows and explains the development of phonological process skills (phonological awareness, phonemembers, phonetic use), verbal language skills and vocabulary.
2   Explain the components of early literacy.
3   Plans examples of literacy preparation activities.
