Course Objective

This course aims to provide students with the skill of correlating translation theories and critical practices in order to have them realize the interaction between these two areas. Within this scope, various translation criticism methods will be analysed considering the relation between theory and practice.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to analyse the way translation theories are used in practice and/or reflections of translations theory in practice.
2   They will become conscious for reducing the disunity between theory and practice, which can be observed in both in Turkish and Western translation studies
3   They will implement various concepts of translation in translation criticism
4   They will conduct an academic study using critical methods
5   They will complete an independent critical study.
