Course Objective

In this course, it is aimed to give information to students about human being, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, European Convention on Human Rights, philosophical foundations of human rights and democracy, social contract, collective life, the process of transforming the principle of human rights and democracy into behavior, the necessary forms of behavior for human rights and democracy in input, process and output dimensions in primary education system.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to have a comprehensive knowledge of the basic concepts of human rights.
2   To be able to achieve an awareness of human rights
3   To be able to interpret the provisions relating to fundamental rights and freedoms in 1982 Constitution
4   To be able to examine the developments in human rights
5   To be able to explain the elements of international human rights law

Whether the student has knowledge about the topics covered in the course, the ability to evaluate and discuss on the topics will be evaluated by midterm and final exams. Students' ability to follow, analyze and discuss current developments will be measured by the homework they prepare.

Assessment Criteria

1. LO 1-3: This will be evaluated through the performance in the midterm examination
2. LO 1-5: This will be evaluated through the performance final examination.
3. LO 1-5 will be assessed with term homework or presentation

1. It is compulsory to attend 70% of the courses.
2. Presentations and homeworks prepared within the scope of the course must comply with scientific ethics and institute rules.
3. Absence from the class will not be considered as a valid excuse for late submission of homework.
