Course Objective

The aim of the course; definition of the role of the shipowner in the context of the development of the maritime industry, the examination of both ISM and ISPS Codes and their relationship to the manager, and the link between quality, safety management and environmental systems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identify the role of the ship manager within the context of the development of the marine industry.
2   Explain both the ISM and ISPS Codes and their interrelationship with the manager.
3   Describe the linkage between quality, safety management and environmental systems.
4   Assess the management of resources and operations for vessel activities.
