Course Objective

It s aimed to teach shaping ceramicwares by the help of ceramic wheel in accordance with functionality and ergonomy and also technics of wheeling.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be capable of creating unique desings compliance with shaping objects on wheel
2   To be capable of creating technical drawings of designed projects.
3   To be capable of producing dimensioned designs on wheel as the same.
4   To be capable of adding ceramic factors to designs by means of technical knowledge and capacity
5   To has capability of using the technics of glazing, decoration, and engobing in their projects.
6   To be capable of drying, firing, and glazing the ceramics according to rules.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Making theorical expression about specified glaze-project.
2 Redirecting of students to theorical research about high temperature glaze will be investigated.
3 Theoretical research
4 Creating seger formulas of glazes and calculating recipes by determining the raw materials or the student prepares recipes using ternary or tetra diagrams.
5 Glaze application on the test pieces.
6 Designing functional ceramicware suitable for shaping by the wheel.
7 Designing of the project
8 Evaluation of the designs
9 Clay prepearing and wedging
10 Shaping ceramicware by wheel
11 Shaping ceramicware by wheel
12 Shaping ceramicware by wheel
13 Finishing retouch phase
14 Prepearing a handle and sticking.

Evaluation will be made from finishing the projects in time and accurate criterias that will be adapted to completed projects.

3. Absence in the course and the late deliverings of homeworks and projects will be considered as a valid excuse.
4. Delivery of the projects on time and attandence of final presentation are obligatory.
