Teaching the students both the process of historical development and artistic and technical features of Turkish Tiles

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define the artistic and technical feature of tiles which is made in Kaşan, Samarra and Rey where the main production centers of the art of Turkish tile and ceramic in the Great Seljuk period (Seljuks of Iran) in 9th-11th centuries.
2   Inform of the techniques used variety of tile production
3   Distinguish the periodic pattern-composition characteristics of tiles
4   Express the stages of traditional ceramics in the historical process
5   Identify the area of usage of Turkish Tiles as place, space and dimension.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Students will be given a mid-term and a final exam concerning the subjects given theoretical. The pass grade will be determined by the midterm, final exam grades.

Assessment Criteria

The midterm, the final exam will be evaluated out of 100; the 20% of the midterm exam, the 30% of the Assignment/Presentation and the 40% of the final exam will determine the pass grade. The evaluation of the two exam questions will be given to the students.

Course Policies and Rules

Students who come from after starting time of the course, even taken to the course, will be evaluated as participant a half-time. At the end of each lecture topics will be covered in the next lesson and the students are offered as a subject of their studies. The course begins before the first presentation of the studies.
