Course Objective

This practice course ensures the students to acquire skill and experience in conducting a management based on cultural differences for the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative nursing care of patients related to their doctorate thesis topics in line with the nursing theory/model that they base their advanced knowledges and theses and by using the evidence-based resources, guides and technology through observation and practices in a developed country.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students use the advanced level and current information that they gain in the nursing care of the patient group related to their thesis topics by making observations/practices in a developed country.
2   They use evidence-based practices and technology in the nursing care of the patient group related to their thesis topics that they develop by making observations/practices in a developed country.
3   They carry out the care of a surgical patient in line with a nursing model by using the information that they gain through observations/practices in the developed country where the model related to the thesis topic is used/adopted.
4   They can prepare a report on the patient that they provide care for to publish in an international journal by synthesizing and analyzing the patient as case study.
5   They convey the evidence-based information and care interventions that they learn based on cultural differences by making observations/practices in a developed country into the nursing care.
6   They apply the patient and employee safety principles that they learn based on cultural differences by making observations/practices in a developed country during thesis application and clinical practice
7   They display sensitivity towards legal and ethical issues that they learn based on cultural differences by making observations/practices in a developed country at advanced level during clinical practice.
8   They establish advanced written and oral communication by using a foreing language at the level of C1 of the European Language Portfolio at least through observations/practices in a developed country and discuss their conclusions.

Assessment Criteria

1. In this practice course, students make an observation/practice plan, set targets, submit to their advisors and discuss after receiving acceptance from a developed center related to their thesis topics. In the first block of the practice, they make observations concerning the thesis/surgery patient group in line with the learning plan and targets. They review the observation/practice plan that they prepared and prepare the last study report by improving it and discuss the plan in the electronic environment.

2. In the second block of the practice, they make improvements by evaluating critically the care interventions that they plan for their theses or patient groups based on their new information and acquisitions. They collect the data of the patient that they provide care for or monitör based on a specific nursing model, evaluate them in detail, plan interventions and prepare a preliminary report.

3. At the end of the practice, they evaluate their developments in the light of their learning targets and integrate their acquisitions into the process of thesis application, draw conclusions as regards to how to transform them into the benefits of the society, discuss with the advisors. Besides, they prepare an international paper containing the case study and care management of their patients interviewed in-depth in APA format and share this paper for social benefiting.

4. In the final exam, the abilities of interpreting, remembering, taking a decision, explaining, classifying and combining the information will be evaluated.
