Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to help students be aware of interpretive paradigm in social sciences, education and music and music education research. With the help of this course, students will be able to understand the philosophical and theoretical foundations in qualitative research.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to learn the theoretical and philosophical foundations of qualitative research.
2   Students will be able to learn the ethical issues in qualitative research.
3   Students will read and analyze national and international qualitative research.
4   Students will be able to learn the research designs in qualitative research (cultural analysis, ethnography, classroom ethnography, case studies, action research, phenomenology, ground theory).
5   Students will be able to learn how to choose the appropriate design for qualitative research.Students will be able to learn how to choose the appropriate sample for qualitative research design.

7   Interpretation of qualitative data.Writing qualitative research report
