Course Objective

To understand the importance of human milk and breastfeeding for the mother and healthy and sick newborn and to offer appropriate nursing care for the initiation and maintenance of breastfeeding.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the importance of human milk and breastfeeding for mother and baby
2   To be able to explain the importance of human milk for infants with health problems
3   To know about the legal status of human milk and breastfeeding in Turkey and in the World
4   To be able to explain the effect of mode of delivery and interventions on breastfeeding
5   To know the roles and responsibilities of lactations consultant in the evaluation of human milk and breastfeeding
6   To produce evidence-based solutions for successful breastfeeding
7   To be able to use human milk and breastfeeding research results in lactation consultation
8   To be able to present a scientific presantation about human milk and breastfeeding at a meeting related to the field
