Course Objective

This course aims to know cooperative learning method, techniques and strategies in chemistry education and to comprehend how to apply them to classroom environment.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand importance of cooperative learning in chemistry education,
2   Know roles of student and teacher in cooperative learning,
3   Understand how to organize classroom environment and students groups in cooperative learning,
4   Understand process of cooperative learning and teaching,
5   Know measurement and assessment methods used in cooperative learning and teaching,
6   Discuss the adaptability of cooperative learning method, techniques and strategies to the subjects of chemistry,
7   Organize, apply and evaluate cooperative learning method, techniques and strategies depending on the characteristics of related subjects in chemistry.

Assessment Criteria

Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in presentations, association of concepts with each other, establishing the cause-result relationships and making comments by using the information available for problems and evaluating idea generation are carried out with mid-term and final exams, active participation to the lecture, homework.
