Course Objective

To equipt the student for performing a wide piano repertuar and becoming piano educator besides having a standart program.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows characteristics of composer s periods in works appropriate to the level of master grade
2   Compares with contemporary music to their period of music history in appropriate to the level of master grade
3   Transfers techniques which are gained from works practiced appropriate to the level of master grade to other works
4   Analysis works according to harmony and form in appropriate to the level of master grade
5   Forms musical expression in works performed appropriate to the level of master grade
6   Determines the effectiveness of the performance to detect mistakes in the playing works in appropriate to the level of master grade
7   Evaluates about own performance in appropriate to the level of master grade

Course Contents

1 Choosing etudes and other pieces from different periods
2 Sight-seeing of the etudes and the pieces
3 Technical exercises on the etudes
4 Performing ornament notes in Baroque pieces, and intensifying technical exercises of the etudes
5 Sigt-seeing of the Baroque pieces and the first movement of the Sonata
6 Giving information about Sonata form and composer of the piece chosen, guiding the student about performing Sonata
7 Sigt-seeing of the pieces from Romantic or Contemporary period and giving information about the pieces
8 Continuation of technical exercises of the etudes and working on gaining speed in performance
9 Continuation of technical exercises of the etudes and working on gaining speed in performance
10 Working on the musical expression of the pieces from Baroque period and the Sonata
11 Choosing topic of the work about piano methods
12 Researching literature about piano methods
13 Working on the musical expression of the pieces from Romantic or Contemporary period
14 Generel repetition of the pieces and delivering of the homework about piano methods
15 Final Exam

Faure vs, pieces from Muammer Sun, Ulvi Cemal Erkin, A. Adnan Saygun, pieces chosen from various periods of piano literature and etudes for technical development.
