Course Objective

The aim of the course is to introduce the concept of human development and to explain human development index in relation to Turkey.
On the other hand, in this course, "the concept of poverty, its causes and types" will be discussed, and then scrutinized the relationship between poverty and human development. During course, also relationships between Turkey and other countries in the context of human development and poverty will be discussed.

1   To be able to define the concept of human development and poverty
2   To have knowledge about the structure of the human development index
3   To be able to analyze the causes and types of poverty.
4   To be able to explain the relationship between human development and poverty.
5   To be able to explain the effects of factors such as education, gender, health on human development and poverty .
6   To be able to make a comparative analysis of the relationship between human development and poverty in Turkey and other countries.
