Course Objective

Epidemic varieties and history of world epidemics. Disease formation: Infection and the effect of toxins, people-to-person diseases, antimicrobial resistance and resistance development mechanisms, methods to combat microorganisms, pathogenic properties and the identification of common pathogens and chemical agents used in the fight to achieve sufficient knowledge and competence.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught in a lecture, class presentation and discussion format. All class members are expected to attend and both the lecture and take part in the discussion sessions. Besides the taught lecture, group presentations are to be prepared by the groups assigned for that week and presented to open a discussion session.
