Course Objective

Giving the basic principles of the Multibeam bathymetry data and side scan sonar data with the the connection to Sea floor very high resolution in shallow seismic imaging, also the transmission principles of acoustic signal related to sea floor. Recording as backscattering, to teach the fundementals of data acquisition, data processing and data interpretation. To teach a software based on the computers all earth scientists in the interpretation phase. The data of multibeam, sonar and sub-bottom profiler as MAK-1, Geochirp and ROV records have been collected from all over the world mainly Black Sea, Marmara Sea, Aeagean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea will be interpreted.

8   to understanding the corrections, preparing the mosaics, to comprehension the additional processing
9   to determine the noise and to evaluate the sonar data
10   to understand the sub-bottom profiler
11   to evaluate the sub-bottom profiler
12   to interpret high resolution data

Real data are evaluated and focused on the applied data, while giving theory of the course. Real data are used and collected by Seismic Laboratory of the Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology (http://web.deu.edu.tr/seislab).
