HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING AND WATER RESOURCES |
Course Objective |
The groundwater which is the most reliable resource of drinking water continues to be polluted due to industrial and agricultural activities. The contaminant transport by groundwater can be studied in details only if the differential equations related to groundwater flow and sediment transport are solved adequately. Some analytical solutions can be obtained after simplifications and assumptions. The important engineering applications with complex boundary conditions are usually analyzed by advanced numerical solution methods. The basic concepts and principles of groundwater contamination are described and various numerical procedures are provided. |
