Course Objective |
The effective management of wetlands requires knowledge of the interactions between component processes and the creation of models to express this. Wetlands are complex ecological zones subject to a variety of physical, chemical and biological processes and to human social, cultural and economic interactive forces. The inter-dependence of geomorphologic origins with man s uses of the wetlands by variety of activities will be shown to impacts the ecosystem in different proportions. This Wetlands Management course identifies different wetland ecosystems with an especial emphasis on areas subject to Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) within various strategies. We will examine existing research findings on the sustainable use of natural resources and apply these methods to local field studies. |
