Course Objective

To comprehend Turkish reforms and political, economical, social events in Turkey from its establishment to present time

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To understand the basic principles and characteristics of the Turkish revolution
2   List the purpose of the Turkish revolution and social achievements
3   Turkish revolution in which conditions, which is achieved by methods in this process and understand that what kind of problems encountered
4   Atatürk's principles and Kemalism, interpret concepts such as Kemalist thought system
5   Republic of Turkey experienced in the past to the present political, economic and social developments can detect
6   Able to compare with Western modernization modernization of Turkey

1 Reforms that carried out in political area: Abolition of sultanate, proclamation of republic, abolition of caliphate
2 Transition to multi party life attempts in the period of Ataturk
3 Reforms and constitutions which were realised in order to compose modern and secular legal system
4 Revolutions that were realised in education area
5 Formation of a national economy policies
6 Language, history and culture as becoming a nation project
7 Characteristics and universality of Turkish revolution and Ataturkist thought system
8 Exam
9 Turkish Foreign Policy in the period of Ataturk
10 Turkish domestic and foreign policy in the National Chef period
11 Democrat Party Period
12 May 27th area
13 Developments which happened in Turkish domestic and foreign policy between 1960-1980
