Course Objective

It is aimed to introduce the basic concepts and principals of design to develop three dimensinal abstract thinking for basic design, to gain basic skills in creating two and three dimensional spatial compositions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to perceive the basic concepts and basic design principles of space.
2   To be able to discuss the concepts of space and basic design in different representation environments(verbal, visual and digital interactive environments)
3   To be able to adopt and use basic design principles to 2 and 3 dimensional design problems.
4   To establish relationships between geometry, material, structure and form in design solutions.
5   To present and discuss the design proposals developed in the process in different presentations mediums (verbal, visual, digital)

Course Contents

1 1 week : Meeting the students. Conceptual conversation on architecture and space. Giving information about basic design principles-principles. Theoretical interview on the basic concepts of design. Exercise 1: Introduce yourself (5 reflections with pecha kucha technique) Exercise 2: Introduce your city (creating a poster with text, drawing, photograph, etc.) Exercise3: Information for Gezi_Comment
