Course Objective

This course aims to provide the students to comprehend the reasons of the formations and developments of human settlements and the form of interference of spatial rationals which are depending on time and geography, to define the developing conditions of human sttlements from the first settlements to the mids of the 20. Century, to explain the transformation casaulaties of the settlements in a historical perspective and to discuss the settlement systems in a framework of socio-cultural and econpmic relations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will be able to define the first formation and growth process of shelter and settlement in the historical process (knowledge)
2   Will be able to describe the differencies depending on time and space og the sttelemts and cities (knowledge)
3   Will be able to list the effects and justifications of socio and economic causes on formation of the space (knowledge)
4   Will be able to list the formation and growth process of the cities in historical process (knowledge)
5   Will be able to tell the forms of explanation on the development and growth process of urban areas (knowledge)
6   Will be able to explain the types of sttelemts and it's spatial components (knowledge)

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course will be given thorugh conference presentations. Students will learn topics by attanding and listening the lectures. Besides, the presentation files will be shared with the students through Sakai, under the "course contents" and "resource" segments. In addition, resources and images such as articles and book chapters related to course topics will be shared with students from related platforms.

The course will be conducted in the form of weekly conference presentations. Students will learn the subjects by attending and listening to the lectures, studying the readings and presentations given to them and preparing their midterm and final exams.
