Course Objective

ntroducing the objectives of the development and changes that enhance the effectiveness of organizational and managerial components within and outside of the organization, introducing strategies and the techniques that pathways to changes in the objectives of the organization and development management for the success of a typical change strategy to use in problem solving, organizational and executive development and intervention.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define the basic concepts and elements of the organization and development management.
2   To differentiate the basic concepts and elements of organization and development management.
3   To know and distinguish the relations among transformation management, developments in organization and management, and system thinking.
4   To distinguish the differences between the factors that shapes to the improvements in organization and management, and demands of the receiver systems.
5   To know and distinguish the factors cause the success or failure of the organization and development management.
6   To recognize the intervention techniques in individual, group and organizational levels.
7   To provide for the planning and implementation of the organizational and management developments.

1 The place of organization and development management in the institutions of change and management, main pillars of the system thinking and change relations.
2 The definitions, the scopes and the aims of the main concepts in organization and development management
3 Planned change, planned change models, stages of planned changes. Annual research, consultation process (the relations between change exports and receiving systems)
4 The process of organizational development, diagnostics, intervention to the receiver system and change, preservation of the changes and amendments equalization.
5 The factors that impact on the success of organization and development management and resistance to change.
6 Intervention techniques for organizational structure
7 Intervention techniques for sub-systems of the organization; job design, responsibility centers
8 Intervention techniques for sub-systems of the organization; alternatives to work hours, assessment centers
9 Intervention techniques for organizational processes: the scale for development in management style, attitude research and feedback, meetings for problem-setting
10 Intervention techniques for individuals and interpersonal interactions; interaction analysis, process consulting, training for sensitivity
11 Intervention techniques for individuals and interpersonal relations; discussion groups, career planning, stress management, mediation techniques, retirement programs
12 Intervention techniques for groups: team building, role meeting and role analysis techniques
13 Alternative models of organizaitonal development process

Rules related to midterm and final exams are: Questions are not general but specific,case study analyses should be made by using of proper terminology. Following points will be considered on this matter. Ability to use terminology properly, degree of consistency between cause and effect relationships of concepts. The solution to the problems should be well grounded, scientific, logical and convincing. Readings related to the course and having a grasp of the topics are important.
