Course Objective

The course will focus on various modes of transportation and the economic aspects of transportation systems. Course will cover the key principles governing transportation planning, investment, operations and maintenance. Technological change, resource allocation, market structure and regulation, public and private transportation finance and project evaluation; covering urban passenger transportation, freight, aviation and intelligent transportation systems will be introduced as the concepts central to transportation systems. This course aims to provide students about different modes of transportation and interaction between economics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate understanding of basic concepts of transportation so that students can recognize the economic aspects of transportation.
2   Identify different types of transportation modes in order to analyze their impacts on economy.
3   Interpret the impact of transportation systems in order to analyze their impact under different economic structures.
4   Make presentations and prepare a term project on a given subject with the purpose of doing descriptive analysis of the relationship between transportation and economy.
