Course Objective

The objective of the course is to demonstrate to the student current language policies in the world, to give a general account of language planning, mother-tongue policies, and their application outside Turkey.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To evaluate past and present language policies
2   To define and criticize on the different issues involving language change and development
3   To demonstrate examples from Turkey and abroad with regard to language policies and/or language reforms
4   To acquire universal knowledge and state opinion on language planning and language policies
5   To list, investigate, criticize, and apply knowledge on the methodology of language planning activities
6   To demonstrate knowledge on the interactivity of languages based on past experience and to predict and interpret future/prospective interactivities
