Course Objective

To be able to understand some basic functions of musical form, to be able to analyze some sample works of composers, identify the formal structure of a composition which listened.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understands the notion, importance and necessary of form in music.
2   Explains and analyzes the theme and figure.
3   Identifies the sentences and periods on a composition.
4   Recognizes and analyzes the lied forms.
5   Understands the structure of rondo form and seperates the sections of the form.
6   Understands the structure of sonata form and analyzes the sonata form.

2 The theme and figure.
3 The development and permutation of the structure of theme and working on sample piece.

6 Lied forms, listening a sample piece and form analyzing studies on a sample piece.
7 Lied forms, listening a sample piece and form analyzing studies on a sample piece.
8 Midterm exam and form analyzing studies
9 Rondo form.
10 Rondo form and listening some sample pieces.
11 Form analyzing studies.
12 Sonata form.
