Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students get knowledgeable about the definition, historical development, content, theories, aims, principles and functions of counseling, to generate a developmental counseling approach towards school counseling curriculum development, ethical principles, counselor characteristics and areas of the counseling service

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Comprehend the definition, historical development, aims, principles of counseling
2   Explain the content and scope of school counseling
3   Differentiate the counseling services according to the age periods and study areas
4   Comprehend normal and abnormal development and the techniques of individual recognition
5   Integrate the theories and the related skills with the ethical principles of counseling and the principles of Turkish national education system
6   Be disposed to develop curriculum , individual and group counseling session through the developmental counseling approach
