Course Objective

The aim of this block is to 1) learn neoplasia terminology, pathogenesis, molecular mechanisms and main principles of treatment, 2) learn the basics of preclinical anamnesis and physical examination.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Viral oncogenesis
2   Understanding the biological models explaining the carcinogenesis process, genetic basis of cancer, multistep carcinogenesis
3   Differentiation of benign-malignant, solid tumor concept, basic principles in naming, metastasis biology and physiopathology, findings and mechanisms of multisystem involvement.
4   Basic biology of multiple system neoplasia syndromes
5   The concept of lymphadenopathy, physiopathology, classification according to underlying causes
6   Classifying adult and childhood lymphomas, Classifying acute leukemias, Understanding etiopathogenesis
7   Shock types, clinical findings, diagnosis, physiopathology
8   Cancer-related metabolic problems, paraneoplastic syndromes, symptoms of lung, bladder, cervix and breast cancer and social screening methods
9   Hereditary, environmental risk factors, cancer prevention and social screening methods
10   Principles of approach to the terminal patient
11   Understanding the physician's perspective and the patient's perspective
12   Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
