General Description

History

Department of Business Administration of Dokuz Eylül University was founded in 1986. Graduate Program of Quantitative Methods, which operates under Department of Business Administation, is a multi-disciplinary program. The aim of Graduate Program of Management Science is to train professionals whom have the ability of decision-making by using both qualitative and quantitative methods and use scientific methodology in problem-solving process in their occupational lives.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

1,5 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 90 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

To train students that fallow the current developments in Quantitative Methods, know about theory and applications of quantitative techniques, can apply these techniques and develop solutions by interpreting the results in businesses.

6   Set up the system to manage the business overall and decide the information systems to be used,
7   Plan the projects that businesses will implement and run them according to the plan,
8   Simulate the business problems that can be faced and offer solutions
9   Map the business processes in enterprises and insure to manage the enterprise by processes.
10   Relate between Management Science and Finance.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

Of the lessons available in Quantitative Methods graduate program, 13 of them are obligatory. There is no pre-condition for lesson registration. In program lessons which consist of theoretical lectures, students are required to use disciplines establishing foundation of Management Science and to be proficient in these areas, to investigate concepts and data regarding management science field by using scientific methodology and to interpret and evaluate available data from the field.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Non-Thesis Program is comprised of courses (at least 75 ECTS), Term Project (15 ECTS), in total 90 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
