General Description

History

The program was established in İzmir Vocational School as Industrial Electronics, then renamed as Electronics Technology in 2009 2010 academic year. The program provides both formal and evening education.
Electronics Technology program is 4 semesters, 2 years to complete. Programs theoretical and practical courses are carried out in classrooms and related laboratories. Every year 125 new students enroll in the program.
By the development of technology, electronic field is an area of constantly renewing itself and growing everyday. The need for qualified personnel in the industry is increasing in this area everyday. For this purpose, Electronics Technology programme aims to educate students who can apply their theoretical and practical knowledge in the industry as a qualified Electronics Technician.

Vocational high school diploma or high school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter institutional credit transfer and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate. The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management.

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK) The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in Graduate Transfer Guide and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam. According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing.

Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student must complete 2 years of study acquiring 120 (ECTS) credits. This degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, compulsory 40 days of internship and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 and no failing grades.

Profile of the Programme

Electronics Technology program is 4 semesters, 2 years to complete. Programs theoretical and practical courses are carried out in classrooms and related laboratories.65 students at first grade (formal education) and 60 students at first grade (evening education) as total 125 students are educated in the program. The language of education is Turkish including formal and evening education. There are three instructors that two of them has a PhD Degree.
Students complete their application training with eight weeks (40 workday compulsory) industrial based learning at 2nd year.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduate students have great job opportunities in both private sector and government sector in where having research and development, production, maintenance and repair in electronics field as industrial automation, industrial electronics, etc.

Access to Further Studies

According to the "Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education for Open Education Associate Degree Programs and Vocational Schools Graduates", the Vocational School Graduates, who wish to continue to the Undergraduate Degree, may register to the relevant departments by entering and succeeding the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
Graduate students may apply to bachelors degree; Computer Education and Instructional Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical- Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Physics, Physics Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Energy Management, Control and Automation Engineering, Meteorology Engineering, Avionics, Space Science and Technology, Space Engineering departments in related faculties.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

All of the courses in the curriculum are based on the Semester System. There is no prerequisite course in the curriculum. The ratio of distance education courses to total ECTS is 40 percent. The students can complete their eight week industrial based learning education period in the second year in the industy which deals with research and development, production, maintanence and repair in electronics field.
