Department of Islamic Law consists of Way and History of Islamic Law,Islamic Law,Comparative Islamic Law Departments.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Aim of Islamic Jurisprudence Master Program with Thesis is produce knowledge among related science departmentss and growup master researchers who are qualified and talented enough to share this knowledge in national and international range,prepare successful students in master term to the Phd phase.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   Reading and comrehension level at classic sources. Must be at a level in which s/he can understand with the help of someone if required.
2   Level at finding and evaluating written and found documents. One has to know how to reach the written works and have average evaluating skills.
3   Level of using and knowing the terminology; has to know the basic terms and concepts.
4   Level of knowing the literature; has to know department s classic sources, have knowledge of modern literature about study subjects
5   Level of knowing judgement versicle and hadiths; has to have sufficient knowledge.
6   Total reading level at classic ways and descendent works; at least one work must be thoroughly read at concise level.
7   Descendent knowledge level: has to have general information about descendence of islamic jurispundence.
8   Level of information about the way of fıqh: has to have general information about the way of fıqh.
9   Proficiency level of comparing fıqh sects: has to have source and method in terms of comparing fıqh sects.
10   Knowledge level about the national and international works of islamic jurisprudence; has to have information and about thesis studies and use them.
11   Knowledge level of other related branchs; has to know basic terms and concepts of Basic Islamic Sciences,be familiar with other branchs.
12   Knowledge level of other jurispundence systems; has to have information about basic principles and concepts of jurispundence and have abilitiy to compare in terms of the judgements

The ones who finished this program not only able to serve their duties in well-supported situation in education system but also they may work in universities as research assistans or academicians.

In this program thirteen lessons are optional and eight lessons are pre-conditioned.The students who successfully finish their two term lessons,have to prepare a seminar in their last terms.The ones who completes it also successfully,prepares master thesis and stand up for it.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 55 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS) and field study (3 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
